Update: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) FAQ’s

On June 15, 2012, the Secretary of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a memorandum announcing that DHS will offer deferred action for a period of two years to certain individuals who came to the United States as children and meet several key guidelines.  Individuals meeting the guideline may be granted a deferred action for a period of two years, subject to renewal, and, as a result may be eligible for work authorization.  Such an individual will not be placed into removal proceedings or be removed from the U.S. for the duration of the grant.  The DHS began accepting deferred action requests on August 15, 2012.

The DHS has now posted a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the US CIS website which provides details regarding how the new deferred action program will work.
