FY15 H-1B Cap Update
As we previously reported, fiscal year 2015 (FY15) H-1B Cap was reached on April 7th for both regular cap and advanced degree (master’s) cap. Subsequently, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) completed the lottery process on April 10th.
We at Sharma Law Offices received our first electronic receipts on April 11th for cases filed using premium processing service. Due to the high volume of premium processing receipts, USCIS has temporarily suspended its premium processing service for FY15 cases and is resuming it today, April 28, 2014.
Similarly, starting April 21st of last week we started receiving paper receipt notices for cases filed under standard processing service. As in previous years, once the receipting for all cases is complete, USCIS will begin to return the cases not selected in the lottery. We would remind our readers to not lose hope, as the number of receipts received by our office is relatively low at the moment, consistent with what our colleagues are experiencing at other law firms. Last year we continued to receive receipt notices through the month of May and looking at the number of cases filed this year, we anticipate the same timing will occur.
We will continue to monitor the issuance of the receipt notices and will provide updates to our readers as new information is made available to us.
