Pending H-1B Transfer to California Service Center
On December 23, 2013, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that in order to balance workloads it has began transferring some H-1B extension of stay cases from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center.
The petitioner whose case has been transferred to California Service Center will receive an I-797 transfer notice listing the transfer date. The original receipt number for the case will not change but all future correspondence about the transferred case will be received from the California Service Center. It is important to carefully read the transfer notice and all communications and to respond to the service center that sends the notice.
Those who wish to track the status of a pending case can do so at www.uscis.gov by entering the receipt number in the “Check Status” field. You can also sign up to receive automatic case status updates by email.
