Arrival/Departure History Now Available on I-94 Webpage

Foreign visitors entering the United States are issued Form I-94 by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) denoting Arrival/Departure Record.  In the past, the I-94 was issued in paper format but since April 30, 2013 I-94s became accessible electronically online at https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

On May 1, 2014 CBP announced further improvements to the system and the new webpage now allows the visitor to access his/her travel history along with the information that was available under the previous system i.e. I-94 record number, class of admission, and admit-until date.

In the past a traveller with the lost or misplaced form I-94 had to file Form I-102, Application for Replacement/Initial Non-Immigrant Arrival-Departure Document, with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) which required $330 in USCIS fee and a few months of waiting time. The new CBP webpage now allows nonimmigrant visitors access to their I-94 arrival/departure record and their arrival/departure history as early as five years from the request date. This new mechanism allows for faster processing by providing instant electronic access to the arrival and departure information and those looking for lost/ misplaced I-94’s will no longer need to file the Form I-102 or the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

We at Sharma Law Offices appreciate this new automated service by the CBP and USCIS to streamline the I-94 process.  This new webpage will benefit travellers by reducing the wait time to obtain a replacement for a lost or misplaced I-94 card.  We will continue to monitor further changes to the system and will provide updates to our readers.
